Sharlston put their league championship push back on track with their first league game in over 3 months. A strong cup campaign that see’s them in the National cup quarter finals this weekend along with the Yorkshire Cup already in their grasps has meant that Rovers still have 8 games to complete before the season closes.

Pennine fixtures have already been scheduled for midweek in the coming weeks but Rovers took their points on offer this time quite comfortably over struggling Clayton.

To the Bradford sides credit they managed to keep Rovers out for the opening 20 minutes of the David and Goliath clash but eventually Rovers showed their supremacy as captain Craig Miles went in for a quick fire hat-trick with Dale Ferris converting 2 of the efforts. Just before the interval Dale Potter added a score in the corner that gave the visitors a 20-0 lead.

Rovers now attacking down the slope looked to fine tune their performance for the big cup clash this weekend and with the coaching staff looking for their best team players were looking to make an impact on the game.

Chris Bingham lead from the front in one of his best performances of the season while Sean Emblem and Tommy Crowther continued to make massive inroads down the middle. It was prolific center Davies who was to register most of the points as he quickly raced to a well taken hat-trick with Emblem also getting on the score sheet, Ferris added 2 of the conversions before Miles added the last of the afternoon points with a conversion.

Chris Bingham sponsored by Lorraine Bingham Garden Designs took the man of the match accolade with a restless performance.

This coming week Rovers will travel to Wigan St Cuthberts looking to gain a place in the semi finals of the BARLA National Cup. The club are running a supporters coach to the big match with seats priced at £5, advanced tickets are available from the Sharlston hotel where the coach will depart 11.30am for the 2.30 kick off.
