Big Game Approaches - Admission Prices Slashed

The big game approaches for the players and supporters of Sharlston Rovers who will pit their unbeaten form against the toughest opposition to date, as they take on the semi professionals of Oldham in the 3rd round of the Carnegie Challenge cup.

The two sides are no strangers having met in the same competition several years ago and Sharlston will hope it will be the case of third time lucky.

They first clashed in the 2003 fourth round after Rovers emphatic scalp over Dewsbury Rams. Despite a gutsy tussle Sharlston bowed out of the esteemed competition in a rescheduled Wednesday evening game with a respectable 24-4 defeat.

The following season Sharlston made the round 3 stages and once again the luck of the draw paired them Oldham this time with Rovers gaining home advantage. The game was played at Featherstone and an improved Oldham side took its toll on the hosts despite an early bright spell.

The amount of support on those 2 occasions will hopefully be equalled as they make the trip over to Boundary Park on Sunday (8th march) afternoon. The club have arranged several supporters buses for the big day at a reasonable price of Adults £5 and Children £2 with advanced bookings being taken at their Sharlston Hotel headquarters.

The convoy of support will head West from the Sharlston Hotel at 12.30pm for a 3pm kick off and a recent reduction in admission charges should ensure significant attendance for testing encounter.

Oldham CEO Chris Hamilton announced “There will be one overall price structure for both upper and lower tiers of the main stand, namely £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, this representing significant savings on normal admission prices.”

Also on offer in the hospitality suite on Sunday is a "buffet and banter" promotion featuring former Wigan, Leeds, Warrington, Widnes and Great Britain star Mike Forshaw as guest speaker. Price, including admission, pre-match buffet, viewing from the comfort of a hospitality box, use of a pay bar and official post-match presentations is £25, enquires should be addressed to Julia on 0161 6283677.
