Its the big one for Rovers!

Saturday 14th February 2009 - Kick Off 2.00pm
Carnegie Challenge Cup Round 2

Back ot Wall, Weeland Road, Sharlston

It's the big one this week for Sharlston Rovers as they make their bid to reach the third round of the Carnegie Challenge Cup and standing in their way is Leigh East.

The National Conference League outfit, currently sitting in sixth position of the premier division, are the hurdle that Rovers need to clear for a chance of a shot at a pro club in the third round.

Easts warmed up for the clash with a National Cup 46-8 demolition job on Lock Lane at the weekend, while Sharlston had to sit out their National cup fixture with West Bowling’s ground falling foul to the snow.

Rovers’ Weeland Road ground has received its own fair share of snow but it’s the surface water left by the thawing snow that may cause the fixture some problems, but the players and supporters remain confident that the tie will go ahead as planned, in order to not fall further behind a busy schedule.

Leigh East will be the second NCL premier side to visit this season and Lee Bettison’s men will be looking to reproduce the same form that dumped York Acorn out of the national cup in what could be similar conditions. The undoubted match of the day is sure to attract a substantial crowd ready for 2pm kick off.

Thursday 12th February from 8.00pm
