Barlow goes pink for charity

Pink and Rugby League dont exactly go hand in hand, but as a player for Sharlston 'A' Russ Barlow will be sporting a pink head guard for the 2008/9 season, in support of Cancer Research UK.

The Rovers forward tested the fit of his pink protective dome in the recent match versus West Leeds who have a repertation of being a hard no nonsense side.

Expecting the possibilty of hassle and high shots from the opposition didnt faze Barlow who has played for Rovers for over 10 years and he was pleased to receive some words of encouragement from opposition and team mates.

Everyone who he will face this season knows why he is doing it and hopefully they will help him acehive funding for the Cancer Research charity.

Sponsorship forms are available from the Sharlston Hotel or see Russ or John Brewerton, any donations welcome.

Well done Russ and keep up the good work.
