Rovers skipper signs off tour with try and accolade
Sharlston Rovers skipper Scott Glassell returns from his South Africa tour with the English Lions gaining the accolade of being the players player of the tour.
Glassell departed two weeks ago to represent the community game club internationally in a domestic warm up followed by two test matches.
In the opening game vs West Cape combined in Cape Town the Lions prevailed 56-4 in which Glassell impressed from the bench.
That display earned him a start in the first test match played on Wednesday 3rd at Pretoria where the Lions defeated South Africa 30-10. Despite a spell in the sin bin, Glassell was named the man of the match.
In the final test match played Johannesburg last Sunday (7th) Glassell once again claimed the 13 shirt as his own and managed to cross the whitewash in the Lions 40-23 triumph.
At the end of tour awards his team mates voted him the players player of the tour.
Glassell and his team mates return back to England midweek and the Rovers skipper is eager to continue his form as his side look for revenge from the Yorkshire cup semi-final defeat at the hand of Frystonís. When they travel to the Castleford based side on Saturday in the Pennine Premier, kick off 2pm.
