Davies handed Featherstone trial
Prolific try-scorer Gareth Davies has been handed a one-month trial at Featherstone Rovers.
Davies impressed Fev head coach Daryl Powell when Sharlston took on the Co-operative Championship club at their Big Fellas Stadium in a festive friendly on Boxing Day.
He’ll train with Featherstone in the lead-up to the 2012 season and is set to feature for them in a pre-season trial game against Bradford Bulls on Sunday, January 15.
Streethouse-born Davies, who won the BARLA Man of Steel award for his performances for Sharlston last year, has already been on the books at Post Office Road back in the coaching era of David Hobbs.
He’ll be aiming to make the most of his second chance with the club over the next four weeks joining former Sharlston duo James Lockwood and Danny Grimshaw who recently signed for the Co-Operative championship champions.
Davies was a key figure for Pennine League Sharlston last year amassing 54 tries, the highlight being the scorer of the last-gasp winning try in Rovers’ historic BARLA National Cup triumph.
