Due to work commitments at Hull Kingston Rovers and newly born daughter, Chris Chester has had to step down as head coach of Sharlston Rovers.

Chester who took Rovers to Yorkshire cup success last year was unable to commit to another season and a replacement was quickly put into place to take pre-season training.

Lee Bettinson who recently returned from an around the world year tour is now back in charge with the help of Gordy Long and Gareth Davies.

Bettinson closed his tenure as Rovers coach in 2008/09 with a haul of trophies including the Yorkshire cup, Pennine cup, local cups, league championship and a last 8 national cup finish.

Pre-season training has gone well and the mostly unchanged squad will have their first and only pre-season hit out at home this Saturday (21st ) versus newly adopted National Conference side Elland, kick off 2.30pm. As a curtain raiser Sharlston Rovers A will play Ellandís A side on the same day, kick off 1pm. The Rovers A side will also have a midweek pre-season friendly away at Normanton on Wednesday 25th kick off 7pm.

The Rovers Pennine premier campaign will open up on Saturday 4th September with a home tie against newly promoted Slaithwaite Saracens followed the next week with a testing journey to National cup champions Queens.
